World Series of Poker 2015
The World Series of Poker started way back in 1970 at a time when there were few poker tables across the globe. This marked the first poker contest that would identify a world champion. The competition took place in a small hotel room with around thirty gamblers around countable poker tables. That was the beginning of a journey that continues to date and the annual event has been maintained.
WSOP 2015 saw the 24 years Joe Mckeehen from Philadelphia become the world’s poker champion by capturing the first World Series of Poker(WSOP) gold bracelet and the grand prize of $7,683,346 in the poker event. This is considered as the richest and most prestigious poker contest.
Mckeehen whose winning strategy included constantly using his chip advantage, exerting pressure on his opponents and generally having his hand in the demise repeatedly, he knocked out Daniel Negreano, a professional poker player in 11th place and this inspired him to play harder knocking out all the other subsequent opponents to the 2nd finishers, remaining the only man standing and clinching the poker’s top crown of the year.
Mckeehen is a perfect example that one can earn a decent living playing poker and at a very young age he has won an estimated $11 million playing poker. This is definitely a person to look up to for poker players’ beginners as well as those pursuing the game from a professional front.
The 2015 WSOP 1st runners-up for the main event included Josh Beckley, another young guy aged 24 years from New Jersey. Josh earnings during the event was $4,470,896. He is among the top-earners in playing poker and it is estimated that he has made $219,000 earnings in his career as a poker player.
The 2nd runners-up was Neil Blumenfield whose earnings during the 2015 WSOP stood at $3,398,298. Neil a 61 years old poker chap was the oldest player to participate in the main event. Previously, the oldest person to make it this far was 57 years Stephen Gee in 2012. Blumenfield was not however the oldest at the 2015 finals since Pierre Neuville, a 72 year old also made it to the finals. Neil, who is a former high school debate champion has had a stellar performance in poker with previously two WSOP cashes on his winnings and before the 2015 WSOP event, his best performance was on live tournament with earnings score of over $38,000.
The 3rd runners-up at the event was the 27 years Max Steinberg with earnings at $2,615,361. Max has a recording of being an excellent player and he was the only player at the table who already had a WSOP bracelet prior to the 2015 event. Other notable wins on his record include $1,000 No-Limit Hold ‘Em event in 2012, and daily fantasy sports where he emerged a winner at the Draftkings main event.
The Bracelet winners at the 2015 event included Brandon Bernette, who won $75,704, Michael Wang, and Robert Mizrachi. The 2015 WSOP main event finalists were representatives from various countries and diverse age groups from guys in their 20s to those in their 60s. The USA bagged most of the wins. There were no ladies in the finals so it would be interesting to have some girls leading in the coming years.
